The November election is an important one for marriage equality on national,
state and local levels. We are concentrating distribution efforts on key
swing states for the presidential election and on the eleven states with
constitutional amendments on their November ballots. We are currently
looking for organizations and individuals in these areas and beyond to
organize or host screenings prior to the election on November 2, 2004.
Make a difference, help us distribute this important film.
Depending on where you live, either Rainbow Grannies or the Director may
be able to attend your gathering. The more people who see the film, the
better chance we have of defeating discriminatory legislation and those
officials who support them.
Screenings have already been scheduled in California, Colorado, Utah,
Minnesota, Maryland, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and
Florida. Details for each coming soon...
There are several ways you can get involved.....
Organize a
Screening
There are several ways in which you can organize a screening of the film
in your community, congregation, organization, office or home.
Date
Set a date that best suits you anytime after September 29. Be aware of
the four Presidential debates scheduled for September 30, October 8, 13,
15.
Your Event
Basically, the type of event you want to have is up to you - a larger
event with other local organizations, a fundraiser or a small intimate
event, such as a house party. It's up to you.
If you are interested in coordinating a larger community event, talk to
local organizations (community centers, LGBT organizations, PFLAG, churches,
synagogues, political groups, ACLU, etc.) about co-spnsorship or other
forms of involvement. You may use the event as a fundraiser with all proceeds
going to the designated organization. Screenings coordinated with multiple
groups are a great way to distibute and collect information, network and
inspire the larger community to vote and take further action.
Cost
For only $29.95 we will send a copy of the film (DVD
or VHS) along with supplemental viewing and educational guides specific
to your state. The film will be yours to keep.
Rainbow Grannies and/or Filmmaker Attendance
Depending on where you are located, the Rainbow Grannies themselves or
the director may be able to attend your screening. Unfortunatley,
we will not be able to get everywhere due to financial and time constraints.
If you are interested in one or all of us attending and can help with
travel costs (including frequent flyer miles) please let us know.
HOST A HOUSE PARTY
Last year MoveOn.org used the
internet and a series of house parties to distribute two documentaries
across the country. Most recently, the film
Outfoxed, about the slanted journalism on the Fox News Channels, was
seen by over 8,000 people in one night. As word continues to spread, the
film has sold over 100,000 copies to individuals and groups who are now
informed and ready to take action.
We want to do the same. Invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers
into your home for a screening of A Time To Ride. For
only $29.95 we will send you a copy of the film (DVD
or VHS) along with supplemental information specific to the state in which
you live. House parties are a great way to provide an informal setting
to view the film and discuss the issues it raises. See below
for ordering information.
SEND SOMEONE A COPY
Perhaps you know a gay or lesbian family who would be inspired by A
Time To Ride? Why not send them a copy? Or maybe you know of
someone who is opposed to or on the fence about marriage equality? Send
them a copy. See below for ordering information.

Support the
Film
In order to get the film and its message to as many people across the
country, we must raise $8,000. We need your financial support!
In addition to substantial costs for DVD and VHS duplication, funding
is needed for post-productions editing, music and archival footage acquisition,
printing services and shipping costs. Please consider supporting this
important film and outreach program during this critical time. Every little
